The Old Storefront is Gone

If you are familiar with Breakthrough's northside site at First Free Church you may be interested to know the storefront room where Breakthrough started is gone. It is a dream come true and an answer to many prayers for the church to finally be able to build a Family Life Center in place of the three flats that were there.

This is what it used to look like.

It's like the passing of an era. Sometimes it's hard to look at that empty space, but Emily and I were talking yesterday (because our church is undergoing similar changes related to growth) about how God let's this aspect or that aspect of a ministry sort of pass away in order to allow that ministry to step into some brand new thing He is doing.

Yes, it certainly is transition time. We are all looking forward to moving into the promised land!!

I think it's remarkable that God is using the same space that you anointed with the spirit of hospitality (by serving coffee to homeless men)to serve as the base and foundation for a family life center. Likewise, I believe that caring for strengthening, supporting, and differently educating boys and men will help us to build more equal and coooperative family environments that do not overly stress out or isolate men or women. We stress men out when we make them the only one responsible for finances and limit their worth and identity their ability to bring in money. We stress women out when we make them the only ones responsible for the house and the children and limit their value and worth to these tasks.. For us all to survive and thrive, we have got to create new models of living and being together as family and families. May God continue to bless the seeds you have sown into the lives of men, women, and children and church leaders as well. May God especially bless you and your family, your children, your children's children, and more.
